Responsible Gambling
Gambling is entertainment that carries a price, and the only sane way to treat it is as a purchase you decided on in advance. The operator supplies the brakes; you decide when to apply them. This page explains every control available in the Monro cashier, when a change takes effect, and where to get free confidential help if the controls are no longer enough.
Age verification and the 18+ rule
The platform accepts players aged 18 and over, and so does Latvian law. Age is not taken on trust: it is confirmed during KYC against an eID card or passport, and an account that fails that check is closed with the balance withheld. Restricted countries are listed in the operator’s terms; opening an account from one of them through a VPN ends the same way, only later and more expensively. Content on monro.info is written for adults only.
Set the numbers before you log in
Decide how much money and how much time you can afford to lose before the session starts, then lock those numbers into the account rather than into your memory. The order matters: a limit set while calm is a decision, a limit adjusted mid-session is a rationalisation. Never loosen a cap to chase a loss — that single habit is the difference between a hobby and a problem.
Warning signs worth taking seriously
Spending more than the budget you set. Borrowing money to play, or playing with money earmarked for something else. Chasing losses with larger stakes. Hiding the amount of time or money involved. Neglecting work, sleep or relationships. Restlessness or irritation when not playing. Any one of these is a reason to switch on a limit today rather than next week.
The tools in the cashier
| Tool | What it does | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | caps how much can be added to the balance | per day, per week, per month |
| Loss limit | stops play once net losses reach a set figure | per day, per week, per month |
| Stake limit | caps the size of a single bet | per spin or per hand |
| Reality check | a session reminder interrupting play at a chosen interval | from 15 minutes |
| Time-out | a short cooling-off period; the account is frozen | 24 hours to 6 weeks |
| Self-exclusion | a long block that cannot be lifted early | 6 months to permanent |
When a change takes effect
The asymmetry is deliberate and it is on your side. Tightening a limit applies immediately — lower the daily deposit cap and the new figure is live on the next attempt. Loosening one is delayed, typically by 24 hours or by a cooling-off window, so that an impulse made at two in the morning cannot become a deposit at two in the morning. Raising a limit is therefore never an emergency exit, and it is not meant to be.
Latvia: the IAUI register
Alongside the operator’s own tools, Latvia maintains a state self-exclusion register run by the gambling supervisory inspectorate IAUI. Entering it blocks access to the sites licensed in Latvia, which is a stronger instrument than any single operator’s switch. It is worth knowing the limit of that instrument too: Monro holds an offshore Curaçao licence and does not appear in the IAUI register, so the state register does not reach it. Self-exclusion on the platform itself remains the operative control there — details on the self-exclusion page.
Where to get free help
Three organisations offer confidential support at no cost, in English, without registration and without judgement: Gambling Therapy, BeGambleAware and GamCare. All three run live chat and helplines, and all three will talk to a family member rather than only to the player. Contacting them is not an admission of anything; it is the same category of action as setting a deposit limit, only earlier.
What this site does and does not do
monro.info is an independent review publication. We do not take bets, hold balances or set limits — every control described here lives in the operator’s account settings. What we can do is state plainly that the house edge is not negotiable, that no system beats it, and that a bonus with x40 wagering is a marketing instrument rather than free money. If you want the arithmetic rather than the slogan, it is on the wagering page.
