Mastercard at Monro
Mastercard sits alongside Visa in the Monro cashier with identical numbers and one meaningful difference in how the return leg behaves. A deposit from EUR 20 is instant; a payout takes 1-3 business days after the cashier clears the request, and it can only ever go back to the card that funded the account. The complete rail comparison lives on the payments page, and the sister card is covered under Visa.

Funding the account
- Open the cashier and choose Mastercard on the deposit tab.
- Enter the card number, expiry and CVV, then an amount of EUR 20 or more.
- Approve the payment in the Identity Check prompt your bank sends, normally as a push notification.
- The balance updates within seconds and the funds are immediately playable.
Credit, debit and prepaid Mastercards all work, and the card must be registered in your own name. A bonus has to be selected before the payment is confirmed, because an offer cannot be attached retroactively — the terms are on the bonus terms page.
Identity Check and the declines it produces
Mastercard Identity Check is the equivalent of 3-D Secure: the issuing bank, not the operator, authorises the transaction. Two failure modes dominate. The confirmation window expires while the phone is in a pocket, and the authorisation lapses without a charge. Or the card simply has online payments disabled, which several Latvian banks ship as the factory setting and which takes a minute to change in the app.
Merchant category 7995
Gambling merchants are tagged with merchant category code 7995, and issuers treat that code very differently from one another. Some block it as policy, some require the customer to enable it, some pass it silently. A payment refused instantly and without any Identity Check prompt is nearly always this and nothing else: no money moved, no charge exists, and retrying will produce the same result.
The fix is a conversation with the bank, or a different rail. For a player in Latvia the natural substitute is Trustly — the same bank account, authorised with Smart-ID, and a payout in 1-2 hours instead of days.
Refunds go to the same card, and only that card
This is where a card payout differs structurally from a wallet payout. Technically the operation is a refund against the original transaction, so the money is returned to the exact card that was charged, up to the amount deposited. Anything above the deposited amount is released to another available method from your account.
The practical consequences are worth knowing before you need them. A card that has expired or been reissued since the deposit cannot receive the refund, so support has to be informed before the request is filed. A card that has been closed entirely means the payout is rerouted, which requires a support ticket with a reason. And because a refund travels the issuer clearing cycle rather than a real-time rail, it can appear on the statement a day after the operator marks it as sent.
Timings, minimums and ceilings
| Operation | Minimum | Timing | Operator fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deposit | EUR 20 | Instant | None |
| Cashier review of a payout | — | up to 12 hours | None |
| Withdrawal to the card | EUR 20 | 1–3 business days after review | None |
| Daily ceiling | — | EUR 5,000 | — |
| Monthly ceiling | — | EUR 20,000 | — |
Realistically that adds up to 2-4 days across a working week. Card networks do not settle at weekends, so a Friday request effectively starts on Monday. If speed matters more than familiarity, Skrill and Trustly finish in hours and crypto finishes within a day including Saturdays.
Currency and conversion
The operator adds nothing to a standard deposit or payout. Your issuer will, however, convert if the card is not held in euro — at its own rate, with the margin built in, and then again in reverse when the refund comes back. Since the gaming account is denominated in euro, a euro card removes both conversions entirely and the credited amount equals the debited amount.
Card verification before the first payout
Verification happens once and gates the first release: an eID card or passport, a proof of address no older than three months, and a proof of the payment method. For a card that means a photograph with only the first six and last four digits visible, everything else covered, and the CVV masked on the reverse. Review takes 24-48 hours. The name on the card and the name on the account have to match — a one-letter mismatch is the most frequent cause of a stalled first payout, and it is worth catching before there is a win waiting.
